Riddles and mysteries attract attention from people. Admit it, everyone at least once in their life was interested in touching a secret or trying to unravel a particular secret. Come on! Otherworldly life, the essence of being, the transmigration of souls, a deal with the devil, predictions for centuries to come and other phenomena covered in millions of legends and at the same time constitute complete ignorance. In the same way, we can describe the subject of our today's hit parade. We are talking about books, and you probably already guessed that Coelho, Dontsova and even Pushkin had nothing to do with it. It would seem that it’s time to end with intrigue and rather move on to the rating, but the real intrigues are just beginning. So, we open the door to a special library, which houses the 10 most mysterious and mysterious books of mankind.
10. Mayan Bible Popol-Vuh
Maya itself is a mysterious and extremely curious phenomenon. The manuscript, later called "Popol-Vuh", acts as a kind of bible of this people. The chronology of Mayan life events from the creation of the world to the day of writing, “seasoned” with various legends and teachings, was displayed on the sheets. Filling was carried out before the start of Spanish colonization, during which the conquerors destroyed all written references to Maya (manuscripts, books and convolutions). Inexplicably, only one manuscript survived, thanks to which we today also know the Mayan life on earth. Popol Vuh has also been translated into Spanish.
9. The Book of Soig
Even if there are secrets in the world, covered with darkness, then the book of Soig is without a doubt one of those. History sends us to John Dee, a 16th-century English thinker who once discovered a strange book in his own library. In addition to the incomprehensible language, the scientist was interested in tables and formulas at the end of the story. John literally became obsessed with the manuscript, trying to solve it until the end of his days. According to Dee, the contents of the book are spells, materials on astrology, and also instructions on demonology. The most amazing thing is that Soyga has not been deciphered by scientists to 100 percent to this day.
8. Polyphilic Hypnotherosis
You can hardly imagine what is inside this book, if it has such a name. In fact, we are talking about a kind of illustrated book published in 1499 by a man named Ald Manutius. It is interesting that the authorship of the lines and figures is not known for certain, and in the published copy no information was listed. The set of letters in the title means the name of the hermetic novel, the action of which unfolds on the pages. The meaning of its content is that the entire human existence on earth is nothing more than a dream. The plot also describes the antique mystical interests of the Italian Renaissance. Very ambiguous.
7. Codex Rohonzi
Another manuscript that has not been decrypted even today (however, tomorrow, it’s also unlikely to finish). In addition to jokes, scientists could not recognize in which language any of the 448 pages of this book is written. A manuscript was discovered in the book collection of the princes of Battyani, when one of the representatives in 1838 presented it as a gift from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. For more than 150 years, the book has undergone various studies, but failed to achieve any holistic result. The only more or less specifically formulated version is that the Rohonzi Code is a hoax over the authorship of an antiquary from Transylvania named Samuel Nemesh.
6. The Voynich manuscript
Here, too, everything is extremely difficult, since Walfred Voinich is not the author of the manuscript at all, but a man who discovered this mysterious manuscript. The book contains not only lines in an incomprehensible language, but also equally obscure illustrations. Someone puts forward the theory that the hoax belongs to the pen of John Dee (supposedly, he was so impressed with the book of Soig that he himself did something similar). However, a radiocarbon examination showed that fragments of the manuscript were created in the first half of the 15th century - John was not in sight at that time. It is known that in the original there were about 272 pages written with a quill pen in gallic acid ink. But the content of the case is worse - the book is also not decrypted.
5. Code of Serafini
And here a much larger number of puzzles converges. Firstly, there is an author - Luigi Serafini. Secondly, it is well known that the creative Italian was inspired by nothing more than the Voynich manuscript. Finally, the work was published in 1981, that is, not so long ago. Serafini presented a book in an artificial language with surrealistic illustrations as a scientific work, but its content is quite difficult to link to any earthly science. Strange and even frightening drawings, coupled with obscure sayings, deservedly received the title of the most mysterious encyclopedia in the world. By the way, Don Serafini is still alive today, so there is a theoretical opportunity to find out the whole truth.
4. The Book of Oer Lind
Officially, this book is recognized as falsification, allegedly narrating about the flooding of Atlantis and describing a chronology of events 4000 years long. Nevertheless, there are a sufficient number of people convinced of the veracity of the facts that have come down from the pages of this manuscript. To prove this, we’ll give an entire organization where Oéra Linda plays the role of a kind of bible. The society is called the "Daughters of Freya." In the book itself, topics such as catastrophism, matriarchy and mythology are raised. There is a place on the pages and nationalism, which made the book popular among the fascist community. For the first time about the manuscript became known in 1867.
3. Prophecies of Nostradamus
Finally, at least one familiar last name, right? Indeed, the citizen Michel de Nostrdam in the 16th century decided to put on paper all his thoughts regarding the future. The scientist planned as much as 1000 years in advance, since the prophecies contain 10 centuria or centuries, each of which has 100 quatrains. Over time, supposedly 2 more centuria became entangled, but their authenticity is in doubt. That is, today also appears in the prophecies when you read our hit parade. The most discussed topic related to Nostradamus is the solar eclipse in 1999, on which the Frenchman emphasized in his work.
2. The Giant Code
The giant code fully justifies its name. Imagine a copy of a book whose height is about 92, the width is 50, and the thickness is 22 cm. Impressive, isn't it? The manuscript also weighs solidly, 75 kg. Some notes indicate that the book is most likely written by one person and completed in 1230. In fact, this would have taken at least 20 years, in connection with which the legend of the Giant Code was born, according to which the monk clerk, using the devil, created a manuscript exactly in one night. The book is a set of all human knowledge at the time of writing.
1. Ripley Scrolls
Finally, the tip of our iceberg of secrets and mysteries, captured on the pages of books. Ripley's scrolls are an alchemical treatise on the description of the receipt of the philosopher's stone. Creation came from the pen of George Ripley in the 15th century, when alchemy in England flourished more than ever. The original scrolls were quickly lost (already in the 16th century), however, several artists were able to reproduce the illustrations and text as accurately as possible (drawings occupy about 75% of the treatise). 19 scrolls have survived to this day, 16 of which are stored in Ripley's homeland in England. The length of the longest instance is no less than 6.5 meters.
