Each self-respecting actor seeks roles that would leave their mark on the history of cinema and in the hearts of the audience, but sometimes it turns out exactly the opposite.
It happens that famous and talented actors play roles for which they themselves are later ashamed of what they honestly admit.
This happens for various reasons: sometimes they agree because of money, and sometimes the final product is far from what it seemed at the time of signing the contract, but there was no turning back.
Today we have collected 10 worst roles of different actors, which they themselves prefer not to remember.
10. The Mario Super Brothers - Bob Hoskins | 1993
To agree to a role in the film adaptation of a video game is a risky undertaking and many actors and directors have been burned on this. This fate was not spared by Bob Hoskins, who played Mario in the film based on the cult series of video games.
Almost 50 million dollars were spent on the production of Italian-American tape, which is quite a lot by today's standards, and for 1993 it was a decent amount at all, but at the box office there was a deafening failure - less than 21 million total fees.
Later, among the “geeks”, the film acquired cult status, but Hoskins was ashamed of this role until his death in 2014, wishing that he had signed a contract for the shooting.
9. “Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer Invasion” - Jessica Alba | 2007
This superhero blockbuster at the box office proved to be pretty good, but in general did not cause enthusiasm, because of which the triquel for which the actors signed a contract in advance was canceled.
Who exactly was not upset about this was Jessica Alba, who later repeatedly stated that she was disappointed with her participation in the filming. It sounds a little strange considering what third-rate movie she starred in after: a bunch of low-grade comedies like Meet the Fockers 2, 4D Spy Kids, Sex Guru, etc. Interestingly, is she proud of these roles?
8. “The Devil’s Property” - Brad Pitt | 1997
In this case, Pitt’s discontent with his role seems even stranger: the last film by director Alan Pacula, before his death, was pretty good.
This is a story about the civil war in Northern Ireland, in which the actor tried on the image of an IRA fighter who went to London to buy rockets. Harrison Ford became a partner on the set, and the two of them pulled out a completely ordinary film. Perhaps Pitt did not like the fact that his character was not entirely positive?
7. “A little pregnant” - Katherine Heigl | 2007
Judd Apatow’s comedy with Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl in the lead roles was a real discovery in 2007: she earned $ 145 million in the US alone (with a budget of 30 million), received excellent reviews on IMDb (8.1), and also entered the top five the best for the first half of the year on Rotten Tomatoes, having received a rating of 91%, which is a real success for the comedy average at first glance.
However, Heigl does not put this role into his asset, trying to disown him in every possible way and forget, like a nightmare.
6. Daredevil - Ben Affleck | 2003
And here the reason for Affleck's shame is understandable: for his role as a blind superhero, he received Golden Raspberry, and film critics and the press mocked him for a long time. Although, it’s not so much the actor who is guilty of the disgusting quality of the film as the scriptwriter and director Mark Stephen Johnson, since the plot and production in Daredevil is much worse than the acting game of Ben Affleck.
The picture hit not only his reputation, but also put an end to the comic book character for a long time, and only in 2015 Netflix managed to reanimate his image in his series.
Because of this story, Affleck did not want to agree to the role of Batman, fearing to get involved in superheroics, but in the end agreed, which he regretted again: DC blockbusters with his participation turned out to be so-so.
5. "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" - Megan Fox | 2009
Dissatisfaction with her role as Megan Fox can be compared with the story of Jessica Alba: after this unsuccessful, in her opinion, work, she starred in much worse ones.
Michael Bay’s attraction was at least commercially successful, raising nearly $ 1 billion worldwide.
Around this film, the actress’s career has steadily rolled down: “Jennifer’s body”, “Sex is not an obstacle for children”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” - not a single decent role. Given that she is only 32 years old, Megan still has time to return to the cage, so it all depends on her.
4. Star Wars - Alec Guinness | 1977
It's hard to believe, but you can’t be proud of even participating in the cult universe of Star Wars, but on the contrary, Alec Guinness, the performer of the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, is an example of this.
His role in the original trilogy was remembered by fans only on the positive side: the elderly Jedi inspired respect, although his death at the hands of Darth Vader still raises questions. Nevertheless, according to rumors, the actor himself asked that his hero be "leaked", as he did not want to be removed again.
3. Catwoman - Holly Berry | 2004
One of the worst comic book adaptations that Hollywood has spawned. Despite the sexuality and charisma of Holly Berry, a disregard for the original source and a leaky script ruined a good idea, putting an end to the planned sequel.
After filming in X-Men, the appearance of the actress in a new image turned out to be a failure, which upset her, but did not seriously harm her career.
2. “Phenomenon” - Mark Wahlberg | 2008
In this story, the funniest thing is that the director of the picture M. Knight Shyamalan initially saw in the main role only Mark Wahlberg, without even seriously considering other applicants.
The actor succumbed to persuasion, after which he regretted: according to him, the character Elliot Moore turned out to be one of the worst in his career and now he would never put his signature on the contract and would not even go to the casting.
1. League of Outstanding Gentlemen - Sean Connery | 2003
Over his long career, Sir Sean Connery has starred in dozens of films, from Bond to the Red Tent, created with the participation of the USSR, but he considers the League of Outstanding Gentlemen and the image of Alan Quatermain to be his worst work.
It is noteworthy that this role is his last appearance in a big movie, after which he stopped acting.
